Sharda Welfare Foundation and Itel Mobiles Join Forces to Empower Underprivileged Communities through the SEHAT Caravan Initiative

Sharda Welfare Foundation and Itel Mobile have joined hands in a transformative partnership to support underprivileged communities throughThe SEHAT Caravan initiative. Launched by Sharda Welfare Foundation in Gautam Buddha Nagar, this multifaceted initiative serves a dual purpose: to address the pressing healthcare challenges faced by underprivileged communities and to provide them with access to free and affordable healthcare services available at Sharda Hospital in Greater Noida. SEHAT Caravan has achieved remarkable milestones in community healthcare, impacting over 1,000 patients from underprivileged backgrounds in GreaterNoida

Since its inception, The SEHAT Caravan has reached 25 villages, conducting health drives that served as both medical interventions and educational opportunities. These drives empowered communities with knowledge, enabling them to lead healthier lives. The impact of these initiatives was significant, but to strengthen and sustain these efforts, Sharda Welfare Foundation sought a strategic partnership with Itel Mobiles as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

These health camps offered a wide range of services, including dental check-ups, eye examinations, gynecological assessments, general medical check-ups, and pediatric care. Dedicated healthcare professionals not only provided medical care but also offered valuable guidance on adopting healthier lifestyles. All beneficiaries received ample supplies of medicines and multivitamin supplements, ensuring immediate and comprehensive attention to their health needs.

Mr. Desh Raj Singh, Assistant Registrar at Sharda Welfare Foundation, emphasized the significance of prioritizing healthcare, stating, “Our efforts have illuminated this pressing issue, particularly the urgent need for dental and eye care among many children. Our plan is to sustain and expand these initiatives, reaching more villages and schools through SEHAT Caravan, with the ultimate goal of providing medical treatment to as many people in need as possible.”

This partnership is a testament to their shared vision of creating a healthier and more equitable society. It showcases the potential of the private sector to actively engage in addressing critical social issues and uplifting communities. Under this collaboration, five specialized health drives were meticulously designed to provide healthcare services to Nangla Charan Das and Mamuravillages, as well as the Government Composite School in Morna, Bahlolpur, and Parthala of Noida.

Colonel Abhijeet Talapatra, General Manager at Itel Mobiles, expressed his perspective on the initiative, stating, “Sharda Welfare Foundation has undertaken an impressive initiative, shedding light on the urgent need for healthcare facilities in rural areas. With the collaborative efforts of our team and SWF, we are embarking on a journey of change, committed to actively participating in future health campaigns of this nature.”

The impact of these health camps was profound. Women from economically disadvantaged households, who often lacked access to quality healthcare, showed remarkable enthusiasm in participating in the community camps. The majority of cases in these camps involved pre and post-natal care, anemia, and the threat of cervical cancer. In the school health camps, over 70% of children urgently required dental scaling and cleaning, while more than 30% needed eyeglasses due to weak eyesight.

These findings underscored the importance of addressing gender disparities in healthcare access and the critical necessity for vision correction services among the younger generation. In total, over 1100 beneficiaries from the communities and schools participated in these five camps.

Sharda Welfare Foundation also facilitated the seamless connection of camp participants to Sharda Hospital, ensuring that underprivileged individuals could continue to access free or affordable medical treatment. This long-term commitment to healthcare access was pivotal in addressing chronic health conditions and ensuring individuals received necessary follow-up care and treatment.
