NTT and Cisco Launch IoT asService for Enterprise Customers

NTT’s IoT managed services expertise complemented by Cisco’s IoT capabilities to transform utilities, such as water quality management, consumption, distribution, and maintenance operations.

NTT Ltd., a leading IT infrastructure and services company, and Cisco, a worldwide leader in technology, today announced a collaboration to develop and deploy joint solutions that empower organizations to improve operational efficiencies and advance sustainability goals.

Leveraging NTT’s Edge as a Service portfolio and Cisco’s IoT capabilities, solutions developed by the two companies will offer real-time data insights, enhanced security, improved decision-making, and reduced operational costs through predictive maintenance, asset tracking, and supply chain management capabilities.

The companies will deliver solutions that combine NTT’s Managed Services expertise, automation capabilities at the edge, and the management of complex IT environments, with Cisco’s IoT capabilities, including Low Power Wide Area Networking (LoRaWAN).

As part of today’s news, NTT has bolstered its IoT consulting and services business that brings together more than 1000 practitioners and 100 use cases in areas such as connected cars, fleet management, predictive maintenance, smart cities, digital twins, connected factories, utilities and more. NTT has already trained more than 500 Cisco sales experts to accelerate the companies’ combined capabilities and go-to-market efforts.

“We are accelerating our IoT business initiatives to deliver a powerful portfolio of repeatable services that can be tailored to meet customer demand for these kinds of solutions. We’re in a unique position,” said Devin Yaung, SVP of Group Enterprise IoT Products and Services at NTT.

“We are excited to work together to help transition our customers to this IoT-as-a-Service model so they can quickly realize the business benefits across industries and around the globe,” said Samuel Pasquier, VP of Product Management, Industrial IoT Networking, Cisco.

Transforming Water Management Through Smart Solutions

NTT and Cisco are developing solutions and go-to-market offers focusing on industries such as manufacturing, transportation, and healthcare, where there is a growing demand for edge computing and IoT solutions. The two companies are already deploying this advanced ‘ruggedized’ service to several customers including Compagnie Intercommunale Liégeoise des Eaux (CILE), a public water distribution company located in Belgium.

NTT and Cisco have deployed thousands of LoRaWAN sensors across CILE’s infrastructure to provide remote visibility that improves operational efficiencies related to water quality, consumption, distribution, and maintenance. The solution also includes advanced technologies such as smart distribution networks, remote reading through smart meters, smart grid for remote management, connected IoT objects, and AI, delivered as a managed service. The network also provides the building blocks to support other sustainability use cases such as waste management, parking management, water quality and street light controls.

“At CILE, we provide critical infrastructure for 24 cities in Belgium, which means efficiency, security and reliability are key,” said William de Angelis, CIO and CDO at CILE. “With NTT and Cisco’s support, we have real-time insights into our facilities and distribution networks, including faster detection of leaks, allowing us to respond to issues instantaneously and expand the network to other sustainability use cases.”

NTT Ramps Up IoT Consulting and Services Business

In a move to prioritize and scale IoT for clients and partners, NTT has activated an IOT-dedicated business unit bringing together deep expertise and capabilities from around the globe. The team of 1,000 consultants, engineers, enterprise architects, and sustainability experts will build, deploy, and manage more than 100 use cases in areas such as connected cars, fleet management, predictive maintenance, smart cities, digital twins, connected factories and more.
“We’re doubling down on NTT’s IoT capabilities to meet customer demand,” continued Yaung. “What we’re doing is pulling together our collective knowledge and skillsets, and putting the full power of NTT behind it, to better service our customers and the increasing need to outfit or retrofit their organizations with the connectivity and visibility they need to improve day-to-day business operations.”

Amit Shah, a leader who understands Rabindranath Tagore’s philosophy in depth

A true disciple of Rabindranath Tagore and a firm believer of Gurudev’s philosophy on various aspects including education and politics, Home Minister Amit Shah sees Rabindranath as his guiding light.

Shah, a voracious Rabindranath reader, is particularly attracted to Gurudev’s free thought for politics, social life, art, and patriotism is unlike the kind of narrow-mindedness found now. Gurudev’s thoughts guide Shah and he finds inspiration in his thoughts.

Shah’s respect for Rabindranath, emanating from the writings of the great poet and philosopher, is so much so that he found the word ‘Mahamanav’ was not sufficient to describe the great personality.

Taking Rabindranath’s thought that emphasised imparting education in the mother’s tongue in the true spirit, it was Shah who emphasised that the National Education Policy (NEP) be modelled on that philosophy of Tagore, essentially to help ignite a child’s capacity of thinking & researching and explore her inner self.

“Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore always laid great emphasis on education in one’s mother tongue. A child’s capacity for thinking and research is severely restricted if he/she cannot speak in his/her mother tongue. The New Education Policy, formulated under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has taken inspiration from the thoughts of Gurudev and given thrust on education in the mother tongue,” Shah said.

Gurudev believed that glorifying foreign education and universities should not be the goal of our education system. Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore put forth this new idea of education as opposed to education by rote learning. These resonate in the NEP.

In Santiniketan, Tagore amalgamated the ancient Indian knowledge system with modern learning techniques. Tagore gave maximum impetus to learning in the mother tongue. He knew one could not explore his inner self without the use of his mother tongue. Shah’s emphasis on education in the mother tongue comes from Tagore’s teachings.

Shah is amazed to learn how, despite being a son of a Zamindar family of Bengal, Rabindranath could express the thoughts of ideas of common people so eloquently. Rabindranath, Shah believes, was a global personality in a true sense and contributed not just to art in India, but across various disciplines globally. (ends)

· Disciples plead intervention from Government of India to secure and protect the Osho Samadhi located at the Pune Ashram which constitutes national spiritual heritage
A delegation of Osho disciples from Osho Friends Foundation, a public trust which preserves and proliferates the teachings of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, today submitted an appeal to Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Shri Ramdas Athawale to urgently institute an Inquiry Commission to audit all trusts of Osho Ashram, Pune and Mumbai as well as stop the sale of Bhagwan Rajneesh’s properties worth over 1000 Crore at the Pune Ashram. The delegation comprised of Osho disciples Swami Prem Geet, Sunil Mirpuri, Swami Chaitanya Keerti, Swami Kul Bhushan, Ma Dharm Jyoti, and Swami Atul Anand among others.

Hon’ble Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Shri Ramdas Athawale said, “it is my duty and responsibility to ensure that justice is done especially in case of a renowned spiritual organization such as the one founded by Osho”.

Swami Prem Geet, Osho Friends Foundation said, “We, the disciples of Osho are seeking to protect the legacies of Bhagwan Shri Rajneesh. The legacies of Osho are national spiritual heritage which will benefit several generations to come. Our appeal to the Government of India comes in the backdrop of the Osho Ashram trust properties being siphoned outside India by foreigners and serious offences of money laundering and forgery of Osho’s will, reported against them. We therefore urge the Hon’ble Minister to set up a full-fledged Commission of Inquiry into the operations and finances of all trusts of the Osho Ashram in Pune and Mumbai with their links abroad”.
The delegation contended that Osho’s legacy was being systematically damaged and transferred overseas based on a forged will. The letter presented to the Minister stated that the intellectual properties and valuable articles of Osho have been smuggled outside of India by the present trustees and a handful of foreigners. These being priceless articles for Osho disciples are regrettably being traded in the international market for millions of dollars. Proceeds from Osho’s books, discourses, Osho websites along with cash collected at the Ashram without receipts are being deposited in dummy trusts, private companies of trustees and a handful of foreigners. The letter further mentioned that a court case against the management cites INR 1800 Crore as missing or transferred to private entities.
Hema Baweja, Osho Friends Foundation said, “Hon’ble Minister Athawale has accepted our appeal and we are optimistic that his intervention will bring justice to the Osho Community and public at large as well as prevent the loss of revenues of the Government of India in millions of dollars every year. We hope that a thorough investigation of all evidence by a central agency probe may be initiated along with an Administrator who would protect the Legacies of Bhagwan Rajneesh. The disciples of Osho are now looking up to the Central Government, seeking justice and an end to the criminal infiltration upon the heritage properties and invaluable assets comprising of the teachings of their beloved Osho Rajneesh”.
Osho Friends Foundation Osho Friends Foundation, registered under the provisions of the Maharashtra Public Trust Act, is a gathering of Osho disciples, friends and admirers proliferating Osho Work. The foundation is based in Pune, India, and was established in 2011.
It is currently the complainant in several court cases in India, including the case involving a forged will of Osho created by the board members of Osho International Foundation, Switzerland.

Machhli and Vanya Prani Mitra awards for wildlife conservation in Rajasthan announced

The second edition of the prestigious Machhli Award and Vanya Prani Mitra Award to promote wildlife conservation was held today in a virtual ceremony. The awards are jointly instituted by Prabha Khaitan Foundation (PKF) and WWF India.

This year’s recipients of the Machhli Award are Mahesh Kumar Sharma (forest ranger – WL), Premendra Singh (forester), Mukesh Kumar (forest guard), Pappu Singh (forest guard), Virendra Singh (forest guard) and Man Singh (pump operator), Lakhan Singh (forest Ranger), Umesh Jat (assistant forester), and Ramveer Singh Gurjar (forest guard).

The Vanya Prani Mitra Award was won by Ms Prem Kanwar Shaktawat (Assistant Forester) and Dwarka Prasad Sharma (assistant forester).

The Machhli Award carries a cash/in-kind equivalent award of Rs one lakh and a citation. Named after the legendary tigress of Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve, the award aims to recognise exceptional contribution by the field staff of the Rajasthan Forest Department, local community member, an individual or a group in conserving wildlife and their habitats across the length and breadth of the state.

The Vanya Prani Mitra Award is for outstanding contribution to management of human wildlife conflict in Rajasthan. This award carries a cash/in-kind equivalent award of Rs two lakhs and a citation.

The awardees were selected by an eminent committee chaired by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Rajasthan and senior forest official of the Rajasthan Forest Department, renowned personality with interest in environment and nature conservation, representatives of Prabha Khaitan Foundation and WWF India. Present at the event is Areendam Tomar, PCCF & HoFF Rajasthan Forest Department as Chief Guest, Mr Bittu Sahgal, Founder of Sanctuary Nature Foundation; Mr Ravi Singh, Secretary General and CEO, WWF India as Special Guests; Ms Apra Kuchhal, Honorary Convenor of Rajasthan & Central India Affairs, PKF; Mr R.G. Soni ; and Mr Rajpal Singh.

Ms. Apra Kuchhal, Honorary Convenor of Rajasthan & Central India Affairs, Prabha Khaitan Foundation said: “The second edition of the awards recognizes the commendable efforts of the awardees to protect our precious wildlife in Rajasthan. We hope that this recognition will encourage forest and wildlife officials and activists to strengthen their commit to community-led conservation of wildlife against mounting odds.”

Dr. Dipankar Ghose, Director, Wildlife and Habitats Programme, WWF India said “We are thankful to the Prabha Khaitan Foundation for partnering with WWF India to constitute these awards. Such recognition will go a long way in encouraging the field staff of the Rajasthan Forest Department who protect and conserve the state’s wild animals and their habitats often at great peril to themselves.”
