JSW One Platforms, the B2B e-commerce venture of JSW Group, crossed the US $ 1 billion GMV run rate for FY24. The company reported a GMV of INR ~785 crores for March 2024, with an exit GMV run rate of INR ~9,420 crores for FY24. It has quadrupled in growth from the last year, with the actual GMV at INR 5,200 crores for FY 24. With this, the company has become one of the fastest-growing tech companies in India.

According to a report issued by CREDAI in collaboration with CRE Matrix, Grade A office space leasing demand in India will cross 70 Million Square Feet (MSF) this year. The report highlighted how India has already experienced a notable surge in Grade A office demand during the first quarter of CY 2024 at 16.7 MSF, with a 12% increase QoQ and a 14% rise YoY. Bengaluru, MMR (Mumbai Metropolitan Region), and Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) were the primary drivers of this growth in demand, accounting for nearly two-thirds of the total office demand. These top three cities collectively witnessed a 23% growth from the previous quarter.

Nationwide, market rentalsacross Grade A spaces continued to increase, nearing the ₹100 per square feet milestone, with an 8.7% QoQ increase in Q1 CY 2024. The disparity between market and existing rental rates expanded to approximately 14%, signalling a robust landlord-centric market environment. Specifically, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad experienced an uptick in rental rates during Q1 CY’24 compared to the preceding quarter.

Additionally, the report also highlighted the quantum oflarger deals (> 1 lac sq feet) driving office demand. In the first quarter of CY 2024, 56% of the demand stemmed from occupiers leasing more than 1 Lakh square feet, marking a significant increase from 36% in the fourth quarter of CY 2023 and 33% in the first quarter of CY 2023. Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Noida together accounted for 66% of these deals exceeding 1 Lakh square feet.

In the resurgence of returning to office spaces, the IT/ITeS sector emerged as the dominant force in leasing demand, accounting for approximately 28% of office space requirements. Meanwhile, the BFSI sector saw an increase in its share of leasing demand, rising from 16% in the first quarter of CY 2023 and 13% in the fourth quarter of the same year to 20% in the first quarter of CY 2024. Mumbai and Chennai alone contributed to 50% of the BFSI sector's demand. In terms of the IT/ITeS sector, although Bengaluru remained a major contributor with 35% of the sector's demand, Noida surpassed Hyderabad, accounting for 20% of the demand in the first quarter of CY 2024. We are also witnessing co-working spaces making a mark for themselves as an emerging asset class by contributing 10% to Grade A office space demand.

CREDAI President Boman Irani, says“With a confluence of robust economic fundamentals and substantial investments fuelling both physical and digital infrastructure, we project pan India Grade A office demand to continue its momentum and reach the 70 million square feet in 2024.Grade A spaces have witnessed a sharp increase in demand in the past 4-5 years driven primarily by GCCs and the IT sector, that have a played a huge role in transforming India’s office space landscape. This forecast underscores not only the resilience of commercial real estate sector but also the immense opportunities awaiting developers, corporates and investors.”

Abhishek Kiran Gupta, CEO & Co-founder, CRE Matrix & IndexTapshared his remarks, As rentals increase in prime markets of NCR, Bengaluru and Mumbai, we are likely to see larger deals happening in cities such as Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad and Noida where occupiers would be willing to pay for high grade spaces. Upcoming quarters are likely to see growth in office supply completions and with market rentals tilted towards landlord in key markets, leasing business volumes are likely to grow as well. The new Government’s Budget is also expected to provide a boost to infrastructure and BFSI sectors which in-turn are likely to keep rentals in upward trajectory.

In a remarkable medical intervention, a 7-month-old baby from Anantapur has been saved through an emergency brain surgery at KIMS Saveera Hospital. The baby, who was suffering from a persistent fever, developed a severe brain infection that led to the formation of pus, necessitating immediate surgical intervention.

Dr. A. Mahesh, Consultant Pediatrician at KIMS Saveera Hospital, detailed the critical case and the subsequent treatment. “The baby was brought to us in a critical condition, suffering from a severe and persistent fever. Local hospital doctors, recognizing the severity of the infection, referred the case to KIMS Saveera. Upon arrival, the baby was in a life-threatening state and required ventilator support. We conducted an MRI, which confirmed our suspicion of a serious brain infection, evidenced by extensive pus formation.”

Realizing the urgency, the neurosurgery team was immediately mobilized. They conducted a thorough examination and determined that an emergency craniotomy with abscess drainage was necessary. Dr. Mahesh described the procedure, “The surgery involved removing the hair, making an incision in the skin and bone, and meticulously cleaning out the pus from the brain. This was a delicate procedure, critical for saving the baby’s life.”

Post-surgery, the baby was kept on ventilator support and extubated two days later. Intensive care and constant monitoring were provided by the dedicated ICU and nursing teams at KIMS Saveera Hospital. Over a period of four weeks, the baby was treated with intravenous antibiotics to ensure complete recovery.

The successful surgery and subsequent care resulted in the baby being discharged with a normal neurological status. The baby’s parents expressed their immense gratitude, noting that their child is now more active and healthier than ever before.

Dr. Mahesh emphasized the importance of early intervention when children exhibit severe symptoms. “Parents must seek immediate medical attention from qualified pediatricians if their children have persistent fever, especially if they appear weak or drowsy. Infections can escalate quickly, spreading to the brain and other parts of the body. Timely medical intervention is crucial for preventing such life-threatening complications.”

The successful outcome of this emergency surgery highlights the advanced medical capabilities and dedicated care provided at KIMS Saveera Hospital, Anantapur.

The International Day of Families is celebrated annually on May 15th. In India, one of the key moments that brings families together is the daily 'chai time and snacks.' This tradition transcends age groups, from kids to senior citizens, making it a perfect bonding time for families. An interesting study titled 'STTEM – Safety, Technology, Taste, Ease & Mood Uplifter' – The India Snacking Report (Volume I) by Godrej Yummiez, a brand of ready-to-cook products from Godrej Tyson Foods Ltd (GTFL), examines which age group typically decides on the choice of snacks consumed in families, amidst the plethora of options available in the market. This insight into family snacking dynamics is particularly insightful as we celebrate the International Day of Families, highlighting the role of food and snacks in bringing families together.

According to the report, youths(male – female both) aged between18-30 take the lead in deciding the family's snacking choice, accounting for 34%,kids at27%, followed by Adults and Senior Citizen at 22% and12%respectively.When compared across regions, the Godrej Yummiez report shows that youth in the East have the highest influence in making snacking choices, scoring 40%. Following closely behind are youth in the West, with a score of 34%. Meanwhile, youth in the North and South of India demonstrate a comparable level of influence on snacking choices, with 33% and 32%, respectively.

One interesting trend highlighted in the report is the emerging role of children in snack decision-making, particularly in Hyderabad, where they account for 33% of choices. The report also provides city-wise data on youth-led snacking decisions across India's key cities. Kolkata leads with 40% of youth influencing family snacking choices, followed by Lucknow at 37%, Ahmedabad at 36%, Bangalore at 35%, and Mumbai at 34%. Delhi and Jaipur tie at 32%, while Pune and Chennai follow closely at 31% and 30%, respectively.

Fans join Gujarat Titans in hitting a six for sustainability, first five matches see 75,557 kgs of waste diverted

 

Gujarat Titans’ ongoing partnership with Nepra Resource Management Pvt. Ltd. (NEPRA) for waste management during IPL matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium has yielded impressive results, diverting a significant amount of waste from landfills. The expanded sustainability initiatives during the first five home games of the TATA IPL 2024 season have seen a substantial 75,557 kgs of waste being diverted from landfills through segregation and recycling efforts.

 

During the five home matches, Gujarat Titans and NEPRA successfully collected and managed a total of 75,557 kg which included 6,400 kg of wet waste and 69,157 kg of dry waste. The wet waste was sent to Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure Ltd. for composting and transforming it into valuable organic fertilizer. The dry waste was efficiently segregated at Nepra’s material recovery facility into recyclable waste such as mixed plastic, mixed paper, PET, and non-recyclable waste. This resulted in 24% of the dry waste being diverted from landfills.

 

Stadium awareness campaigns engaged fans through pre-game announcements, visual displays, interactive activities, and promotional materials. These served to inform and educate fans about the importance of sustainable practices like waste segregation and responsible waste disposal practices. to save the environment and ensure a greener future.

 

Colonel Arvinder Singh, Chief Operating Officer, Gujarat Titans said, “We are proud of our sustainability initiatives that have led to significant progress in minimizing our negative environmental impact during the TATA IPL 2024.
